How we averted clash between NDC, APC supporters in Calabar - Police

The Cross River Police Command successfully prevented a potential clash between supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and those of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Calabar. NDC supporters had gathered in front of the Metropolitan Hotel, where presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi was set to address a town hall meeting, while APC supporters were en route to the Governor’s Office when they encountered the NDC group.

Tensions escalated when the APC supporters stopped in front of the hotel, prompting fears of a possible confrontation. Police officers quickly intervened, engaging the two groups and urging them to maintain peace and adhere to the law. The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed the successful intervention of the police in halting what could have been a violent altercation.

Eitokpah emphasized the command's commitment to public safety and the importance of all parties respecting each other's rights and conducting their activities peacefully, regardless of their political affiliations.
