Baltimore, MD - On January 11, 2025, Russell Wilson, the ex-quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, met with NC State for a potential head coaching position. Wilson, who starred as a quarterback at NC State from 2008-2010, threw for 8,545 yards and 76 touchdowns during his college career. He also became the first freshman quarterback to be named a first-team All-ACC.
After transferring to Wisconsin for his final season, Wilson went on to win a Super Bowl with Seattle and made 10 Pro Bowls. Wilson's move to the NFL came in 2014, and he spent time with the Steelers, Giants, and Giants. This is Wilson's first foray into coaching, making the interview a notable departure from his former football roles.
Philip Rivers, another former NFL quarterback, is also in contention for the NC State coaching vacancy.
