Ex-minister John Nwodo rejects APC campaign council appointment

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reversed its stance on a parallel presidential campaign council established alongside the one led by Governor Ademila Adeleke. The party now names it as the Osun State All Progressives Congress Parliamentary Campaign Council and has expanded it to 183 members, including all state executives.

This move came after some members of the state executive denied joining the council, questioning its purpose. The new council was announced in Osogbo on Tuesday. The Osun APC had previously unveiled a 168-member parallel presidential/parliamentary campaign council to support President Tinubu and canvass votes for other candidates in the 2027 general elections.

This followed the appointment of Governor Adeleke, a member of the Accord Party, as the state coordinator of Tinubu's campaign during its inauguration in Abuja on October 14. The backlash led to protests from four members of the state party executive, who demanded a review of the composition. They cited concerns over the exclusion of several members of the State Working Committee and inconsistency with the earlier presidential directive appointing Adeleke as the council's coordinator in Osun State.

The aggrieved executives called for an immediate review of the list, with consultation involving relevant stakeholders, including the National Secretary of the APC, Ajibola Basiru and Governor Adeleke.
