DeMarcus Cousins believes the Houston Rockets have the potential to make an NBA title run, despite being ranked first in the Western Conference with a 7-1 record. During a recent interview on Run It Back, Cousins expressed his confidence in the team's ability to win the championship. He pointed to their recent victory over the Celtics, where Kevin Durant scored a mere 12 points, as proof of their depth and talent.
"I can't remember the last time I've seen that," Cousins remarked, referring to Durant's low-scoring performance. Cousins stressed that the Rockets possess the necessary talent and depth across all positions, calling this the most complete team he's witnessed in a while. He also highlighted the team's strong guard play and the presence of superstars that could propel them to the top.
However, Cousins acknowledged that health concerns could potentially hinder their success, given the unpredictable nature of injuries in the Western Conference. He concluded that, aside from health issues, the Rockets check all the boxes and could be the real deal in the race for the NBA title.
