Apple Photos keeps getting better, here’s what’s new in iOS 27

iOS 27 introduces several enhancements to Apple's Photos app, with Apple Intelligence driving three new editing tools: Extend, Reframe, and an improved Clean Up feature. Extend allows users to add more space to their photos by filling in missing areas, such as straightening a crooked horizon or adjusting the aspect ratio. Reframe enables spatial composition adjustments, harnessing Apple Vision Pro's deep spatial models to preview perspective shifts in real-time.

Clean Up, a significant upgrade from iOS 18, now removes distractions with higher quality and more realistic infill, even in complex scenes. iCloud Shared Albums get substantial updates, including two new collections: Captured by Me, which showcases photos taken by the user, and Identity Documents, which identifies and surfaces important documents like driver's licenses or passports.

Additionally, users can now add keywords to photos and customize slideshow transitions, length, and more, as well as save slideshows as videos with a single tap. While iOS 27 doesn't bring any major design changes to the Photos app, it offers a plethora of exciting features that make this release a significant update for Apple Photos.
