Android Canary 2611 is out today for Google’s most adventurous testers
If you've got a Pixel 6a or newer, you can try out Google's very latest Android tweaks.
For years, writer 82df633c-ef1 remained loyal to Google Pixel phones and apps despite Google's increasing bloat. The Pixel experience, with its clean design and intuitive launcher, appealed to the writer. However, the writer's search for alternative apps met with limited success. That changed when they discovered the Fossify suite of apps.
Launched in early 2024, Fossify offers seven fully released apps and nine in open beta testing. Unlike Google's feature-laden apps, Fossify maintains the core functionalities without unnecessary bloat. Apps like Fossify Clock, Calculator, Keyboard, Calendar, and Contacts have replaced their Google counterparts, offering a truer Google experience without the clutter.
Notably, Fossify apps are ad-free, don't track user data, and function offline. Despite some missing features, such as a dedicated backup feature in the Gallery app, Fossify's suite provides a refreshing alternative to Google's heavy-handed approach.
