Amazon MGM Studios Names Jenny Groom Head of MGM Alternative

BBC Studios’ Jenny Groom is set to join Amazon as head of MGM’s Alternative division starting November 30. Her responsibilities will include managing legacy franchises like "Survivor," "Shark Tank," and "The Voice," as well as overseeing the studio’s format library, which continues to be active globally. Additionally, Groom will focus on creating new formats and series for Prime Video’s lineup and promoting third-party sales.

She will report to Amazon MGM Studios Nonfiction Head Jenn Levy. Groom brings over two decades of experience in unscripted television. At BBC Studios, she served as Unscripted Development EVP, responsible for developing and executive producing shows such as "Nation’s Dumbest" and "Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro." She also led the team in securing various development and pilot deals for broadcast and streaming platforms.

Groom spent nearly two decades at NBCUniversal, most recently as Unscripted Programming EVP, where she commissioned shows like "The Traitors" and "Love Island," and oversaw "The Voice," "America’s Got Talent," and "American Ninja Warrior." She also serves as an executive producer on Netflix’s "Funny AF with Kevin Hart," which is set to return for a second season.

Amazon MGM Studios Nonfiction Head Jenn Levy expressed excitement about Groom's addition to the team, noting that her extensive experience on both the buying and selling sides of the business will strengthen MGM Alternative and reinforce their commitment to developing and selling shows worldwide.
