During the India vs New Zealand first-ever One Day International, fielding team members Gurnoor Brar and Blair Tickner exchanged playful banter on the pitch, causing a wave of amusement among spectators. The exchange commenced when Tickner, in response to Brar's multiple short-pitched deliveries, made a cheeky gesture aimed at the stumps.
Tickner playfully directed Brar to aim for the stumps rather than continuing to trouble him with bouncy deliveries. The banter reached its peak during the 40th over of the match, as Brar relentlessly tested Tickner with short-pitched balls. After failing to connect with a pull shot off the first delivery, Tickner showcased his stumps to Brar, seemingly instructing him to target the wickets instead of enduring more short balls.
Undeterred by Tickner's response, Brar decided to stick to his strategy. The Kiwi batter, however, paid the price for his attempt to attack the short ball, producing a top edge that allowed KL Rahul to make a swift catch, ending Tickner's innings. Brar celebrated his teammate's dismissal with a jubilant run towards Tickner, while Tickner grinned broadly, clearly enjoying the lighthearted exchange despite being out.
With Tickner's dismissal, Brar lifted his arms in celebration, and the playful rivalry between the two players made for one of the most entertaining moments of the match.
