Indonesian police have detained three suspects in connection with allegations of illegally intercepting communications targeting President Prabowo Subianto and other high-profile individuals between 2025 and 2026. The suspects are former national police chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, National Police Intelligence Branch Chief Ahrie Sonta Nasution, and Deputy National Police Chief Eko Hadi Santoso.

According to Asep Safrudin, head of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim), the suspects are accused of directing intercepted phone numbers into the Police Communication Management System without proper authorization. Between 2025 and 2026, the suspects allegedly conducted communication interception operations without written requests from the police investigation or report.

The communication interception took place without any connection to law enforcement enforcement, while the records of such operations were erased in October 2026, according to a media briefing on Tuesday. A police officer who knew about the activity filed a report with the police on October 30. Only the full names of the suspects were revealed as LSP, ASN, and EH, while they are currently held at the Bareskrim detention center.

Bareskrim stated that 10 witnesses and three expert witnesses are being questioned, along with the retrieval of 11 mobile phones, one iPad, and four USB flash drives. One more individual is known to be under investigation as a witness. According to the investigation, each offense carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, six years, and eight years.

The motive behind the communication interception allegations remains under investigation, as the case is still in its preliminary stages.
