Wiz slugger Ahn Hyun-min itching to make Korean Series debut

The KT Wiz, having secured the top spot in the regular season of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), secured a mandatory berth in the Korean Series. Consequently, the team will venture to the Korean Series without facing any opposition, granting them ample time for rest and practice. They have not played since their final regular-season match on October 12.

With the first Korean Series matchup against the Samsung Lions scheduled for Tuesday at their home ground in Suwon, located south of Seoul, Wiz outfielder Ahn Hyun-min expressed his eagerness to finally take the field. In a pregame press conference at the KT Wiz Park, roughly three hours before the 6:30 p.m. tip-off, Ahn lamented about his anticipation.

He remarked, "I am weary of waiting. Even these subsequent three hours will feel like an eternity. It's almost as if we had another round of training camp while we were waiting." Ahn, who clinched the Rookie of the Year accolade in 2025 after slugging 22 home runs in 112 games, was restricted to 14 homers in 94 games during his injury-riddled sophomore season.

As per the customary rule, the regular outfielder will assume the role of designated hitter in Tuesday's game. Ahn stated, "Given the extensive time we had off, I believe we are as well-prepared as we can be. However, I am not certain whether this level of anxiety is beneficial."
