The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied allegations that it organized protests against the African Democratic Congress (ADC) campaign rally in Sokoto State. Atiku Abubakar, the opposition party's presidential candidate, accused the secret police of collaborating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to hinder his party's rally. Atiku claimed that the DSS was using protests to create unrest and justify a curfew, preventing the ADC from holding its scheduled event.

However, Deputy Director, Public Relations and Strategic Communications of the secret police, Favour Dozie, refuted the claims in a statement. She stated that the DG DSS had been informed of Atiku's allegations regarding the DSS's organization of protests in Sokoto. Dozie revealed that DSS operatives had evacuated ADC Governorship Candidate, Mannir Daniya, to safety when he was attacked in Sokoto on 31st October 2026. Two DSS operatives were injured during the incident and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Dozie also mentioned that, on 2nd March 2026, the DSS arrested Monday Udeme Steven in Rivers State for threatening to attack Peter OBI, the NDC Presidential Candidate. Udeme was prosecuted in a Rivers Federal High Court and sentenced to two years in prison. Despite these protective operations, the DSS acknowledged that these actions contradict Atiku's allegation and may demoralize the DSS operatives who risk their lives during duty.

However, the DSS has decided to investigate the allegations to give Atiku a chance to clarify his remarks.

Furthermore, Dozie pointed out a similar allegation made by AAC Presidential Candidate Omoyele SOWORE, who claimed that the DSS was involved in an attack on him in Ekiti State. The police have initiated a swift investigation into this incident and are awaiting the outcome. The DSS expressed their gratitude to the Police for their swift action and await the result of the investigation into this matter.
