Tinubu graduated with first-class in accounting — Education minister

Education Minister Tunji Alausa has defended President Bola Tinubu's academic record, stating that the President graduated with a first-class degree in accounting from Chicago State University. Alausa, who has lived in Chicago for nearly 30 years, personally met many of Tinubu's classmates at the institution. During an interview on Tuesday, Alausa dismissed concerns about Tinubu's intellectual capacity, describing him as "a genius."

He also defended the President's performance in office, claiming that Tinubu has transformed Nigeria from a struggling economy into a growing one. However, when challenged on the President's achievements, such as high levels of out-of-school children and poverty, Alausa insisted that the conversation should remain focused on Tinubu's accomplishments.

The controversy surrounding Tinubu's academic qualifications has resurfaced after the Independent National Electoral Commission displayed personal particulars and academic credentials of presidential candidates for the 2027 general elections.
