Tonight marks the first game of Texas A&M men's basketball's 2026-27 season, as the Aggies take on the Alabama State Hornets at Reed Arena. Coach Bucky McMillan returns for his second season after leading the team to the NCAA Tournament's second round and a fourth-place finish in their first year.
McMillan's fast-paced, high-scoring style of play is among the top-15 in the nation in scoring offense (86.1 points), assists (18.1), and 3-pointers (10.8). He bolstered his team with key transfers, including Kansas State guard PJ Haggerty, who ranks as the country's top returning scorer, and Jalen Reece (LSU), Lukas Walls (Radford), and Jordan Pope (Texas), all potential high-volume scorers.
Retaining Zach Clemence and McDonald's All-American Mackenzie Mgbako, McMillan's squad appears poised for a successful start to the season. This contest against Alabama State, one of three SWAC teams they'll face this year, marks a significant milestone in the Aggies' basketball journey.
