Shallcross father allegedly shoots armed robber after son is attacked in home robbery

Shallcross resident Omesh Thulsi allegedly shot and killed an armed robber after his son, Shaheer Thulsi, was attacked in a home robbery. According to Sivan Subramodey, owner of Amawele Emergency Services, two armed robbers, on foot, approached the family property in Chiltern Heights. The son, Shaheer Thulsi, saw one of the suspects enter the tuckshop where his mother was working.

When the suspect, allegedly unarmed, returned to the family home, he confronted Shaheer Thulsi. The suspect allegedly drew a firearm and demanded money from Shaheer Thulsi. A struggle ensued and the suspect fired shots at Shaheer Thulsi, who was hit in the leg. After a confrontation, Omesh Thulsi, who was in his vehicle outside the property, allegedly drew his firearm and shot the suspect multiple times.

When police arrived at the scene, the suspect was still alive, but later died at the scene. Omesh Thulsi stated that Shaheer Thulsi was heavily medicated and recovering at home. The family is seeking counseling following the traumatic ordeal. Police had not commented at the time of publication.
