Senate passes bills clarifying Abia federal varsity, college locations

The Senate in Nigeria has passed two amendment bills aimed at clarifying the locations of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences and the Federal College of Education in Bende, Abia State. The amendments seek to remove ambiguity over the institutions' host communities, with the university to be located in Bende town and the college in Item Bende.

Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Monguno, emphasized the importance of these amendments to prevent potential communal disputes and ensure each institution has a clearly defined host community. The bills, which have already passed the House of Representatives, now await presidential assent to become law.
