Reps invite CBN gov over unpaid pension arrears

The House of Representatives has resolved to invite Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Olayemi Cardoso to clarify alleged breaches of pension agreements and the failure to pay benefits to retired CBN employees. This decision came after the adoption of a motion that called for an investigation into the bank for any violations of approved pension agreements, non-implementation of a harmonisation policy, and the exclusion of pensioners from general pension increases.

The motion, moved by Kaduna State representative Hussaini Jallo, expressed concerns over the non-compliance with contractual agreements governing pension entitlements and the potential disparities in pension benefits.
