Melaka polls: MCA candidates bank on experience to win Banda Hilir, Kota Laksamana

Two MCA candidates in Melaka's upcoming election, Jasmine Loke and Melvin Chua, are focused on their experience in handling residents' complaints and addressing local issues to secure their respective seats in the Banda Hilir and Kota Laksamana constituencies. According to Melaka MCA chairman Datuk Lim Ban Hong, both candidates have had at least two terms as councillors with the Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB), allowing them to gain firsthand knowledge of community needs and local problems such as draining issues, road damages, rubbish collection, street lighting, and business licensing.

While councillors interact with residents on a daily basis to resolve their concerns, Lim, who is also the BN candidate for Klebang, clarified that not all complaints can be solved immediately. He stressed that councillors must take responsibility, keep complainants informed of the actions taken, and provide voters with an opportunity to evaluate their experience and service records when casting their ballots on Nov 14.
