Mason Thames Cast as Robin in DC's Dynamic Duo Movie, DC Studios Boss Says Actor Is 'Obsessed' With the Role

How to Train Your Dragon star Mason Thames has been officially cast as Dick Grayson/Robin in DC's upcoming film, Dynamic Duo. The news was confirmed by DC Studios co-head Peter Safran in an interview with Collider. Safran revealed that Thames was an absolute fan of the role and had been pursuing it relentlessly. He even brought his dad to the DC offices to take pictures of memorabilia and express his excitement.

The film will follow the early days of Robin and Jason Todd, meaning no Nightwing or Red Hood are expected to appear initially. Dynamic Duo will blend CGI animation with stop-motion and puppetry, a unique approach that Safran described as "as original as Pixar was with Toy Story." The film is set to release on September 22, 2028.
