Man and boy arrested after One Nation volunteer allegedly attacked with baseball bat in Victoria

A 37-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy from Hampton Park have been arrested in connection with an alleged assault involving a baseball bat outside a Torquay home on Victoria's Surf Coast, according to police. The incident took place on Sunday night, around 7:45pm, outside a premises on Scorpio Street. The 60-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One Nation's federal and Victorian deputy leaders have expressed their disapproval of the alleged attack, describing it as "un-Australian and unacceptable." The Hampton Park man has been charged with intentionally causing injury and other assault-related offences and is set to appear in court on November 10. The victim's political beliefs were reportedly the reason for the alleged assault, with the accused individuals allegedly interfering with One Nation signs on the man's property.

The Victorian premier, Ben Carroll, emphasized that violence should never occur on the campaign trail, regardless of one's political affiliation.
