Interpol arrests ex-aide of gangster Iqbal Mirchi in Dubai, hands him over to Gujarat Police

Gujarat's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended Salim Ismail Dola, a notorious drug lord wanted for a massive mephedrone seizure. The drug lord, who was nabbed in Istanbul on April 25, 2026, had been wanted since the Sindhrot factory raid in 2022, where 87.728 kg of the drug worth ₹438.64 crore was seized. Dola was brought to India on April 28 under an Interpol Red Notice and was taken into custody in Mumbai on October 31.

The ATS stated that Dola was involved in the manufacturing and distribution of narcotics, having been arrested multiple times for drug-related offenses. He is currently being questioned by the ATS to establish his role in the Sindhrot case and to trace the network's broader connections.
