Ideas for social networks
My favorite kind of software to build involves social platforms. Recently, I've been contemplating what drives motivation after relying on AI-assisted coding. The greatest motivation for me is creating tools for people to use. This makes sense considering my PhD journey which was solitary and led to the creation of a social network called Sweet.
Sweet had many issues but had a unique identity that attracted specific individuals to contribute. Despite its poor coding and bugs, Sweet showcased a strong community spirit and prioritized safety with a whisper system for reporting bad actors. After shutting down Sweet due to moderation and upkeep challenges, I yearn for it more and more.
During these trying times, I am convinced of a few things: an allotment-style social network, a week-long social network for ten people, a social wiki, a sea of tiny social networks, Twelve, a hybrid feed and chat network, and my latest idea. I am eager to collaborate with someone to develop a superior social network.
