Godparent row: Soludo clarifies relationship with Obi

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has clarified the nature of his relationship with Peter Obi, his political rival. During an interview with BBC News Igbo, Soludo confirmed that Obi's wife is the godmother of one of Soludo's children, and that his wife, Nonye, is the confirmation godmother of Obi's daughter. Soludo described Obi as a close friend and stated that their families remain on good terms despite their political differences.

The clarification comes after a public disagreement in September, where Obi claimed he and his wife were godparents to Soludo's children. The controversy arose due to differing interpretations of the relationship between the two families, with Soludo stating that their disagreements were political, stemming from their differing visions for Anambra State's governance.
