Dubai-based airline Emirates SkyCargo has introduced a specialized air freight service called AI Tech to transport artificial intelligence infrastructure, following the transportation of over 700 tonnes of AI-related equipment in July. The new service, announced on Tuesday, aims to handle semiconductors, graphics processing units (GPUs), server racks, and other computing hardware used in AI systems.
Emirates SkyCargo's Divisional Senior Vice President Badr Abbas attributed the service's launch to the growing demand for transporting high-value, sensitive, and oversized technology equipment between manufacturing facilities and major technology markets, driven by increasing investment in AI and data centers. The AI Tech service features priority loading, specialized handling, and cargo monitoring through the airline's command center in Dubai.
Customers will receive airport-to-airport shipment updates, and the airline will offer dedicated support for oversized and heavy cargo, including server racks that may weigh over 3.5 tonnes. Emirates SkyCargo expects to operate 23 dedicated freighters by March 2027, expanding its capacity for transporting large and heavy technology equipment.
