CM Punjab Announces Jobs for ‘SheThreads’ Program Graduates

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced employment opportunities for rural women in the textile industry, following their completion of skills training under the SheThreads program. Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister revealed that 1,150 women have already successfully completed the training and secured jobs under the initiative, with a goal of training 2,500 additional women by June 2022.

To participate in the program, women will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000 throughout the three-month training period, which focuses on industrial sewing and apparel supervision. Upon successfully completing the course, graduates will be provided employment opportunities within the textile sector, empowering them to become self-reliant and financially independent.

In a further effort to uplift women, the Chief Minister has ordered the Punjab Traffic Police to expand their driving training program to include rickshaws. The Traffic Police, in collaboration with a private university, conducted training sessions for 34 women at driving schools in Bahria Town and Manawa. City Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi emphasized the program's aim to create respectable job opportunities for women, highlighting the significance of this initiative in promoting gender equality and economic empowerment.
