Blue Hens host CUSA Women's Soccer Tournament, try to make history

The University of Delaware is aiming to secure the first conference championship in its storied women’s soccer program. The Blue Hens will host the eight-team Conference USA Tournament from November 8-13 at Grant Stadium. Liberty, the reigning champion and top-seeded team, will open the tournament on Sunday, November 8, with their first quarterfinal match against Delaware at 1:30 p.m. Delaware, led by fourth-year coach Kelly Lawson, is seeded third and will face Middle Tennessee State in the second quarterfinal on Sunday, November 8.

A victory in the semifinals, scheduled for November 10, would earn the Blue Hens an automatic NCAA Tournament berth. The championship game is set for November 13 at noon. The Blue Hens, who began their women’s soccer program in 1990, have yet to claim a conference regular-season or tournament title. The team has competed in the North Atlantic Conference/America East from 1991-2001, the Coastal Athletic Association from 2002-24, and has been a member of CUSA since 2025.

Delaware suffered defeats in three America East title games from 1994 to 1996 and three semifinal appearances in the CAA tournament during the 2005, 2011, and 2019 seasons. The CUSA Women’s Soccer Tournament will kick off on Sunday, November 8, with the quarterfinal games beginning at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 7 p.m. The semifinal matches will be held on Tuesday, November 10, at 4 and 7 p.m., followed by the championship game on Friday, November 13, at noon.
