Syrian intelligence dismantles ISIS assassination cell in Deir Ezzor
Syrian intelligence and internal security forces have arrested a two-member ISIS cell accused of carrying out assassinations in Deir Ezzor.
Syrian security forces have apprehended a duo linked to ISIS in Deir Ezzor, seizing weaponry during an intelligence operation, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency citing the Internal Security Forces. Investigations unveiled the detainees' involvement in a series of killings, most recently targeting a Ministry of Defense official near Al-Rashid Mosque in Al-Mayadin.
The operation resulted in the seizure of arms and munitions from the cell's hideout. Ongoing inquiries aim to uncover additional connections before the suspects are handed over to authorities. Notably, on the 16th of last month, the General Intelligence Directorate, in collaboration with Internal Security Forces, thwarted an ISIS plot to target a police patrol in Rural Damascus province.
