The Malaysian government plans to expand its Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme, aiming to organize 35,000 sales events nationwide in the coming year, according to Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh. This expansion is part of Budget 2027 allocation of RM750 million, which will help subsidize essential goods by 10 to 30 percent below market rates.

The initiative is particularly focused on aiding households during festive periods, such as Deepavali, with 103 themed events scheduled in Melaka from October 19 to November 15.

From January 1 to September 30, the program had already conducted 26,185 sales events nationwide, resulting in 28.4 million transactions or beneficiaries. These events included 17,515 mobile sales, 7,830 at business premises, and 840 outside business premises. In Melaka alone, there were 1,195 events, generating 1.72 million transactions.

To control prices during the Deepavali 2026 festive season, the government has introduced the SHMMP, which runs from November 4 to 10. This scheme applies to 11 essential items, including coconut milk and potatoes imported from China, to prevent traders from exploiting higher demand. The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living will continue to monitor prices and supplies to ensure that consumers are protected from unreasonable price increases.

Traders are reminded to adhere to price-control laws, and price ceilings for the scheme can be accessed on KPDN's official website.
