Sean Shelby's Shoes: What's next for Tom Nolan after UFC Vegas 123 win?
What does the future hold for UFC Vegas 123 main event winner Tom Nolan? We attempt to play matchmaker.
Tom Nolan's victory against Renato Moicano at UFC Fight Night 292 is not his fault, despite the controversy surrounding the fight. Nolan, defending his lightweight title, was pressured on the mat for most of the bout but capitalized on referee Dan Miragliotta's decision to take them to the feet in the third round. Nolan capitalized on this stand-up opportunity, finishing Moicano with two successive knockouts.
While this win won't overshadow Nolan's impressive six-fight winning streak at 155 pounds, it has overshadowed the Brazilian's efforts in the fight. The dust will settle, and Nolan, who has established himself as a rising star in the lightweight division, will continue to gain recognition. His next target is Polish contender Mateusz Gamrot, an eager fighter who would likely accept any offer from Nolan.
