Nasarawa Police arrest three over forged ICPC identity card, recover unregistered Lexus

In Nasarawa State, Nigeria, law enforcement apprehended three individuals linked to the fabrication of an Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) identity card and the seizure of an unregistered Lexus IS 250. The incident unfolded after the police intercepted the Lexus during a routine patrol near Bukan Sidi, Lafia, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Rahman Nansel.

Among the three occupants, Mohammed Nuhu claimed to be an ICPC officer and presented a forged identity card as proof of his authority. Upon questioning the vehicle's driver, Mohammed Umar, who failed to provide a valid explanation for the car's ownership, the suspects were taken into custody. The investigation revealed that Mohammed Nuhu's forged card and his claim that he was accompanying the driver from Kaduna State due to lack of a valid driver's license further implicated him in a cult group, the Eiye Confraternity.

The suspects are currently in police custody, awaiting court proceedings, while authorities investigate the vehicle's true ownership and any additional crimes potentially connected to the incident. Nasarawa's Police Commissioner, CP Shetima Jauro Mohamed, emphasized the force's dedication to proactive policing and crime prevention, urging the public to assist in maintaining security by providing reliable information.
