Ikogosi Marathon to groom 10 Ekiti athletes

The Ikogosi Marathon Initiative has announced plans to support the careers of 10 indigenous athletes discovered during the competition.

Separately, Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, has called for international sanctions against Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the organizers of the Ikogosi Marathon. According to Daily Post Nigeria, Sowore accused the organizers, led by Makinde Araoye, of complicity in a deadly assassination plot against him and his team.

Sowore has demanded that World Athletics blacklist the organizers from future sporting events and has called for an independent investigation into the alleged roles of the organizers and the Ekiti State Government. He further stated that he intends to pursue legal action against both the state government and the organizers through national and international channels.
