HoneyWorld advances Tema Port operations with innovative RAM Revolver technology

HoneyWorld has introduced a groundbreaking system to revolutionize bulk export operations at the Port of Tema in collaboration with Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA). The RAM Revolver Containerised Bulk Handling (CBH) System brings a novel approach to dry bulk exports through Shed-to-Ship/Pit-to-Ship loading. This technology allows bulk cargo to be transferred seamlessly from its storage location directly into the vessel’s hatch, eliminating the need for traditional quay apron discharge.

This move aligns with GPHA's commitment to cleaner and more environmentally friendly port operations while expanding the options available to Ghana's bulk exporters. The RAM Revolver CBH System is a departure from the conventional method of shea nuts discharge at Tema Port, which previously required the nuts to be unloaded onto the quay apron before loading onto vessels, risking spills into the sea.

Instead, the system employs specialized 20ft Revolver Containers that are stored at the client's warehouse for loading, sealed, and transported to the quayside. Once at the quayside, a crane grips and lifts each container, opens its lid, and rotates it 360 degrees to discharge the shea nuts directly into the vessel’s hatch. The empty container is then returned to the warehouse for reuse.

This method ensures that the commodity remains enclosed until discharge, enhancing handling cleanliness and cargo protection. The introduction of the RAM Revolver CBH System is a result of GPHA's efforts to discover more efficient and eco-friendly bulk cargo handling methods. The Port of Tema engaged private-sector operators to explore alternatives to traditional bulk handling, leading to the successful partnership between HoneyWorld and GPHA to implement the system at the port.

Mr. Tabon Zuma, the Director of Port in Tema, highlighted the milestone as a significant change from traditional handling methods to a modern approach for shea nuts. The sealed containers prevent dirty cargo charges typically associated with traditional bulk handling, and the system also makes cargo diversion more difficult. HoneyWorld's bulk export solution is backed by a range of warehousing, road freight services, and an equipment fleet, including reach stackers, payloaders, forklifts, and a conveyor belt with weighing capability.

This integrated approach enables efficient coordination of cargo handling, reinforcing HoneyWorld's position as the preferred logistics solutions provider.
