Former Indian spinner Ravi Ashwin playfully responded to a fan's inquiry about his preference for Sanju Samson as India's opening batsman in T20Is. The conversation unfolded on social media following Samson's underwhelming performance in the fifth T20I against New Zealand on Sunday. The wicketkeeper-batter managed to score only four runs off 10 balls, leading to further criticism over his persistently poor form.
Ashwin's zingy reply to the fan read: "Sanju is my first choice, your full-time obsession." Ashwin, who has always backed Samson as his preferred opener in the shortest format, did not hesitate to fire back at the criticism.
