EPFO brings PF balance, passbook and transaction details to WhatsApp

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) introduced WhatsApp-based services for its subscribers on Sunday, allowing them to check their provident fund balance, view the latest five transactions, access passbook details, and receive personalized assistance for the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) requirements.

The new facility aims to provide easier access to routine EPFO services and reduce the need for subscribers to visit EPFO offices. The move was announced during EPFO's 74th Foundation Day celebration by Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

Through the verified WhatsApp service, subscribers can check their PF balance, view recent transactions, access their EPF passbook information, and obtain guidance on fulfilling PMVBRY requirements. The service is expected to simplify accessing EPFO account-related information and minimize the need for physical visits to EPFO offices.

Additionally, Mandaviya launched the automatic settlement facility for inoperative EPF accounts. Subscribers with Aadhaar-verified inoperative accounts holding balances up to Rs 1,000 will have their dues automatically settled without requiring individual claims. Around one lakh accounts, encompassing approximately Rs 5 crore, are anticipated to benefit from this initiative.

During the event, Mandaviya highlighted EPFO's trust as a vital institution for India's workforce over its 74-year history, emphasizing the fund's Rs 32 lakh crore corpus accumulated through contributions from over eight crore members. He encouraged EPFO officials to focus on worker-centric innovations, adapt to new challenges, and build resilience in the upcoming 75th year of the organization's existence.
