Demonstrationen und Krawalle: Dobrindt verurteilt Gewalt nach Jugend-Demos

Bundesinnenminister Alexander Dobrindt has condemned violent outbreaks following youth demonstrations in various cities, attributing the disturbances primarily to certain groups. "Left-wing extremist groups and rioters from the migrant community hijacked peaceful demonstrations after the afternoon," Dobrindt stated to the "Bild" newspaper.

Rioters and looters would be identified and held accountable, with severe penalties following the breakdown of peace. He also praised the actions of security forces, noting that violence reminiscent of incidents in Paris was prevented due to the highly engaged police presence and decentralized force deployment. Demonstration began peacefully, turning violent in the evening, particularly in Frankfurt am Main and Cologne, with bottles and Molotov cocktails thrown.

In Berlin, there were instances of bottle and firecracker throwing. Some cities deployed water cannons. The "Gen Z regulates" initiative had called for peaceful protests in over 30 cities, demanding increased funding for schools, measures against rising living costs, and enhanced climate protection. Similar protests abroad, including in France, had seen significant riots in recent weeks.
