Cops probe woman over incident involving two children at KL mall

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are probing a woman accused of pushing and hitting two children at a shopping mall in the capital, according to authorities. The alleged incident was brought to light through a 35-second video that circulated widely on social media platforms such as Threads and Facebook. The video captured a heated confrontation between the father of the children and the woman involved, eliciting significant outrage from netizens.

Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Azwan Amin Nordin of the Dang Wangi district police explained that the police had identified the viral video and received a formal complaint from the children's father. The alleged incident took place at around 3pm yesterday when the 36-year-old woman was accompanied by her two children, aged 2 and 7.

According to Ahmad Azwan, the woman suddenly pushed the 7-year-old child from behind, causing them to fall, and struck the 2-year-old child on the back of the head. The police are treating the matter with utmost seriousness and are conducting a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident. The police have appealed to any witnesses who may have relevant information to come forward and report to the police station at 03-2600 2222.
