ATF prices up by ₹1.37/litre; commercial LPG rates rise ₹10
This is the fourth straight monthly increase in jet fuel (ATF) prices.
Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices increased by ₹1.37 per litre on Sunday, and commercial LPG rates rose by ₹10 per 19-kg cylinder in response to strengthening international benchmarks, according to state-run oil companies. The ATF price jumped to ₹138.50 per litre from ₹137.12 per litre, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase.
This rise is due to higher international benchmark rates. The previous increases were ₹16 per litre on October 1, ₹6.28 per litre on September 1, and ₹5 per litre on August 1. Jet fuel constitutes up to 40% of airlines' operating costs, and this price hike will further elevate carrier expenses. Commercial LPG prices also increased by ₹10 per 19-kg cylinder to ₹2,820, the second consecutive monthly rise.
The last hike was ₹62.50 per 19-kg cylinder on October 1, following a ₹9.50 increase on September 1. These two-month increases followed two previous reductions of ₹192 and ₹183.50 in August and July, respectively. The reductions followed a surge in commercial LPG prices to a record high of ₹3,113.50 between February and June, after disruptions to global energy supplies and elevated international prices.
Commercial LPG prices fell from ₹1,373 per 19-kg cylinder between February and June. Domestic LPG prices remained unchanged at ₹942 per 14.2-kg cylinder. Commercial LPG rates were increased by ₹89 per cylinder between March and June following supply disruptions due to the West Asia crisis, which caused international energy prices to surge.
Petrol and diesel prices, which were increased by about Rs 7.50 a litre each in May, remained unchanged.
