APSRTC kicks off BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week with yoga programme

APSRTC kicks off BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week with yoga programme

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) launched the BRICS Sustainable Lifestyle Week with a yoga programme at its headquarters in Vijayawada on Sunday. The week-long event, running from November 1-7, aims to encourage environmentally responsible and sustainable lifestyles through public outreach and citizen engagement.

Around 50 APSRTC officers, supervisors, and employees took part in the inaugural event, which centred on the theme of adopting healthy lifestyles. Renowned yoga instructors Tulasi Krishna and Murali Krishna showcased various asanas and emphasized the benefits of yoga for physical fitness, mental well-being, and stress management.

APSRTC's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Srikantha Reddy, underscored the significance of regular exercise, yoga, and a balanced diet for maintaining overall health. The seven-day awareness campaign will be carried out across all 129 APSRTC depots and units, addressing topics such as energy and water conservation, sustainable food practices, reducing single-use plastics and e-waste, and effective waste management.

APSRTC Executive Director (Administration) K.S. Brahmananda Reddy, who is leading the initiative, encouraged employees to integrate yoga and healthy habits into their daily routines. He also acknowledged the yoga instructors and Chief Medical Officer for their contributions to the event. A dedicated Nodal Officer will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the week-long activities across all APSRTC units.
