Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Chandigarh Police on Sunday (November 1, 2026), highlighting their exceptional performance and setting standards for police forces nationwide. Over the past 60 years, the Chandigarh Police have effectively contributed to the security of India, transforming it into the heart of northern region, he stated.
Speaking at the 60th Raising Day event of Chandigarh Police, Shah presented the President's Colour to the force, symbolizing six decades of service, dedication, and commitment. The presentation of the President's Colour serves as a tribute to the force's unwavering efforts, he added. Shah expressed confidence that Chandigarh Police, already ranked second in the country for response time, will achieve the top position among all police forces in the nation within the next year, thanks to the addition of 141 new vehicles to their fleet.
This enhancement will significantly bolster response time, patrolling, mobility, and technology, advancing modern policing practices. Paying tribute to the martyrs of Chandigarh Police, Shah emphasized that sacrificing one's life while serving the nation with honor is a matter of immense pride for soldiers and their respective organizations.
