Zahid welcomes confidence pact with Bersatu MPs, wants wider agreement involving Opposition

Melaka, October 31 — The Barisan Nasional (BN) government has endorsed the signing of a Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) with the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and a few independent Members of Parliament, extending the pact to encompass other parties from both the ruling and opposition camps. BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi deemed the agreement a positive step, particularly in addressing the needs and concerns of the populace.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that the BN has followed a similar approach when an Umno representative was Prime Minister before.

Today, Ahmad Zahid joined Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ab Rauf Yusoh at the nomination center for the Tanjung Bidara constituency, situated in the Tanjung Bidara Development and Coordination Committee (Japerun) complex in Alor Gajah. On Thursday, the Madani administration signed the CSA with six Bersatu MPs, spearheaded by party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and seven additional MPs, including Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

The Prime Minister expressed that the agreement aimed to ensure a stable government administration while allowing ample room to execute the national development agenda, including the 2027 Budget, for the benefit of the people.
