Xabi Alonso sheds light on Cole Palmer to Man Utd transfer rumours and issues 'big game' challenge to Chelsea star

Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has firmly denied reports that Manchester United made a serious bid for striker Cole Palmer during the summer transfer window. The England international remains a key part of the Blues' plans, according to the Spanish tactician, despite a challenging season last year. Palmer, a Manchester native and lifelong United fan, was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford following a difficult campaign marred by a persistent groin injury that limited his playing time.

The injury issues have since been resolved, and Palmer secured a new contract with the club earlier this month, making his future with Chelsea secure. Initial transfer talks between the two Premier League rivals focused on Andrey Santos, and Alonso emphasized that no discussions took place regarding Palmer's potential departure.

The focus now shifts to Palmer's performance in upcoming matches, particularly big games against top-tier opposition. Alonso wants his attacking unit to rise to the occasion and deliver a strong performance, supporting Palmer in getting the ball in the right places and being fully involved in the game. Chelsea face Manchester United in a crucial Premier League match this Saturday, and a fit and motivated Palmer could provide the answer to his manager's call for excellence.
