Seven candidates, seven seats: DAP’s Melaka game plan

Melaka, October 31 — The DAP party plans to defend its four existing seats and contest three new ones in the upcoming 16th Melaka State Election, according to the party's National Election Director Wong Kah Woh. The four seats currently held by DAP in Melaka are Kesidang, Kota Laksamana, Bandar Hilir, and Ayer Keroh. Additionally, the party aims to win Gadek, Duyong, and Pengkalan Batu, which were allocated to them by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

Wong stated that DAP's nationwide election machinery would be deployed in stages to support its seven candidates, with the coordination led by Melaka DAP chairman Khoo Poay Tiong.

Speaking at the launch of the DAP Kota Laksamana state constituency election operations room, Wong assured that DAP would maintain a positive campaign, emphasizing candidates' performance and service records over racial and religious matters. He also highlighted Pakatan Harapan's administrative achievements at both state and federal levels as evidence of the party's trustworthiness.

Wong noted that voters in Melaka were becoming more discerning in assessing candidates' ability to represent their constituencies. The Election Commission has designated tomorrow as the nomination day for the Melaka state election, with polling set for November 14 and early voting on November 10.
