Sanjay Dutt vows to fulfil Sanjay Gupta’s dream of making Kaante 2 after the filmmaker’s death

Dubai - Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has paid emotional tribute to filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, promising to complete the filmmaker's unfinished project, Kaante 2, after Gupta's death. In an Instagram post, Dutt shared photographs of their decades-long friendship, expressing disbelief over the sudden loss and emphasizing that their bond as family would never change.

Dutt revealed they had recently discussed the sequel to their 2002 crime drama Kaante. He vowed to honor Gupta's dream, assuring that he would do everything to make Kaante 2 a reality in memory of his late friend. Gupta passed away on October 30 after suffering a head injury in a fall at his Mumbai residence. Known for directing films like Kaante, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Zinda, and Kaabil, Gupta's friendship with Dutt began in 1994 with Aatish: Feel the Fire.

However, their relationship faced a major setback in 2007 during the making of Shootout at Lokhandwala, leading to a period of estrangement. The two reconciled at Amitabh Bachchan's 70th birthday celebration in 2012. Despite their differences, the filmmakers discussed another collaboration, with Gupta developing the basic story for Kaante 2, which included potential actors like Abhishek Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee, Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, and Ali Fazal.
