Renjat ayam hingga mati, premis di Puchong didapati sembelih bangkai
Mais berkata, keadaan itu jelas timbulkan keraguan terhadap pematuhan hukum syarak, status halal produk ayam diproses.
A slaughterhouse in Puchong was found to be full of decomposing carcasses and no longer living chickens, contrary to Islamic teachings. The premises, believed to be the location for butchering, processing, and distribution of halal-certified chicken without proper certification, was found to use electric immersion methods in the chicken control process.
Shah Alam's Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (Mais) chairman Salehuddin Saidin said initial findings showed the premises used excessively high voltage electricity, causing chickens to die before they could be slaughtered. "The investigation found that the premises used the stunning method and found dead chickens before they were slaughtered, as if they were slaughtering carcasses and not living chickens as required by authentic Islamic teachings," he said.
Salehuddin spoke while attending the Fundamental Declaration of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah (ASWJ) 2026 in Selangor, attended by Johor Islam Department (Jais) Director Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad at Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque today. He said the investigation at the premises was led by Jais and involved police, Selangor Environmental Department (JAS), Selangor Islamic Development Department (Jakim), and Petaling District Health Office (PKD).
According to him, the situation clearly raises doubts about compliance with sharia law and the halal status of processed chicken products being the main focus of the authorities' investigation. Salehuddin said initial findings showed the slaughtering center, operating since 2004, was owned by an individual Muslim and supplied processed chicken to Muslim-owned restaurants.
"The act of killing chickens before slaughter is highly irresponsible. We will ensure strict action is taken," he said. The company had been operating for over 20 years, how could such things happen and why were they so easily deceived, Salehuddin said. In response, the authorities have ordered the closure of the slaughterhouse for two weeks under health regulations to allow for a thorough investigation.
Salehuddin urged owners of restaurants receiving supplies from the company to stop using their chicken products immediately and report any suspicions to Jais, Jakim, or police. "I also urge the Muslim community and restaurant and food business owners to check where their chicken supply comes from as they need to ensure halal food for the Muslim community," he said.
Earlier, Jais seized more than 6.5 metric tons of raw chicken worth RM85,400, believed to be processed without adhering to Islamic slaughter methods, in an operation called Op Taring Chiller during a raid at a warehouse in Puchong at 12:40 am yesterday.
