Police arrest four suspected armed robbers, cultists in Delta

In Delta State, law enforcement authorities have made significant arrests, targeting armed robbers and members of a cult group. The police command in Delta reported the apprehension of four individuals involved in both illicit activities. The operations were carried out in the Umunede and Ughelli regions of the state, aimed at curbing the rise in both crimes.

During the first operation, police received a tip-off about a man named Chibuike Ezeji, aged 30, threatening a resident with a pistol in Umunede. Acting swiftly, the Umunede Division, working with local Civilian Anti-Cult Group members, detained Ezeji and another suspect, Ikenna Emeka, aged 22, from a residence along the Umunede Expressway. The search of the residence unearthed a pump-action gun, locally made firearms, pistols, and substances believed to be illegal drugs such as cannabis and methamphetamine.

In the second operation, the police's Special Assignment Team intercepted armed men allegedly carrying out motorcycle snatchings in Ughelli on October 28, 2026. They detained Peter Emobaye, 22, and James Emmanuel, 29, as well as capturing their alleged leader, Sunny. The recovered items from this raid included a stolen motorcycle, a counterfeit pistol, a shotgun, and additional rounds of ammunition.

Both sets of arrests have been made under the Delta State Police Commissioner's pledge to tackle these crimes vigorously. The public is encouraged to continue providing information that can assist in these ongoing investigations. The police have assured the residents of their continuous efforts to ensure the safety and security of the community.
