Oliseh sparks storm after saying current Super Eagles players lack 1994 squad’s quality

Former Nigerian captain Sunday Oliseh has ignited a social media storm by suggesting that the present Super Eagles players lack the same level of quality and top-tier European club experience as the legendary 1994 squad. In a recent interview with The Play Zone Podcast, Oliseh made the claim that the current team members are not up to the standard set by the historic winners of the 1994 World Cup.

Oliseh's remarks have sparked a range of reactions on X, with most users backing his opinion while others disagree. The debate has been fueled by comments such as, "@ObanlaWasiu, Oliseh set shed blood, lost teeth and gave Nigeria a footballing identity world could not ignore." and "@aisayaomichael, I don’t agree. We have bad management and poor coaching."

Some users argue that the 1994 team demonstrated greater dedication and raw talent, while others point out that today's players are playing for top clubs in the top five leagues. The conversation raises the question of whether the current Super Eagles can match the achievements of the iconic 1994 squad.
