ODM woos Kalonzo after booing at Linda Mwananchi event

A faction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has called upon Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka to distance himself from the opposition and join their ranks, following an incident where he heckled the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement headquarters in Nairobi. The ODM leaders, speaking from Mararal in Samburu County, decried the treatment of the former vice president, stating that the incident was disrespectful to a veteran politician who has served in various leadership roles.

They questioned why a man of Kalonzo's stature was subjected to heckling during a high-profile event. National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed criticized the actions of his political allies, noting that the opposition's democratic values should prevent such treatment of a senior politician like Kalonzo. ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga expressed disappointment in the behavior, urging Kalonzo and his supporters to reconsider their association with the opposition faction.

She questioned whether the opposition was ready for the 2027 General Election, predicting internal disagreements over the presidential ticket could complicate efforts to select a single candidate. The ODM also reaffirmed its support for President William Ruto's re-election bid, planning to campaign alongside its political allies.
