ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi declared on Friday that his government will persist in taking "indiscriminate action" against anyone who illegally occupies government land within the federal capital. Speaking to the media, Naqvi emphasized that no government, private entity, or individual would be allowed to engage in such activities.
He revealed that a department linked to his ministry is responsible for reclaiming these lands. Additionally, Naqvi announced that a camp office of the Federal Constabulary set up on a green belt area had been demolished a few months prior. The minister made it clear that the ultimate goal is to eradicate all encroachments from the capital, with the aim of turning Islamabad into a "beautiful, green, and encroachment-free city."
During his visit, Naqvi personally supervised the demolition operation at the Khanna Police Station, which was temporarily relocated to an alternative location while a new site was designated for the construction of its permanent building. Later, he inspected the progress of the Kashmir Chowk Underpass project, which is currently under construction.
Naqvi directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to complete the project within the time frame allocated. He informed that 78 percent of the construction work had already been completed in just 20 days. Naqvi also directed the CDA to plant over 6,000 trees around the underpass to enhance its greenery and aesthetic appeal, and to install attractive lighting to further improve its overall appearance.
He emphasized that the completion of the underpass would significantly ease traffic congestion for commuters traveling toward Murree and Muzaffarabad, as well as improve traffic flow between Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Naqvi stated that further measures are being undertaken to tackle traffic congestion on the Islamabad Expressway.
