How to use Claude Duet when it rolls out to you

Claude Duet, Anthropic's latest AI agent, is set to roll out to users following a waitlist process. Similar to competitors Meta and OpenAI, Claude Duet is designed to proactively complete tasks when you're not using your device. It operates on its own virtual machine with a dedicated browser, allowing it to surf the web and complete jobs. Duet can also use any apps linked to your Claude account.

Currently, Duet is in preview for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US, with availability limited to these users. To access the agent, you must join a waitlist on Anthropic's website, providing your name, company, email, phone type, and a brief description of your intended work. The company asks for your phone type as it offers dedicated Android and iOS apps for Duet.

Anthropic plans to include Duet as a perk of its $20 monthly Pro plan and higher tiers, unlike OpenAI's Dot agents which require a separate Pro plan starting at $100. During the preview, Duet shares usage with all other Claude apps, including Code and Cowork. It checks your connected accounts every few hours to avoid exhausting plan limits.

While using Duet, you'll receive a daily briefing and can delegate tasks such as scheduling meetings, creating forecasts, or building web apps. Business owners might use Duet to generate sales and cashflow dashboards, while scientists could have it flag relevant research papers. Duet works alongside your Claude app, collecting data from your interactions and connected apps to provide personalized assistance.

However, the usefulness of Duet depends on how much of your digital life you're willing to share with Anthropic. The company emphasizes privacy, stating that the tradeoff may not be worth it for some users.
