Former Newcastle United star Alan Shearer believes Liverpool could be title contenders after a win against Arsenal. The Reds have been unbeaten in five games across all competitions following a 3-0 loss to Manchester City. Last Friday, Liverpool defeated Brighton, narrowing the gap to the top four. Liverpool will now aim to widen that lead when they face defending champions Arsenal at Anfield.
Shearer stated that the team in third place could potentially challenge for the title, depending on the outcome of Manchester City's appeal against their guilty verdict. He said, "Now, whatever happens with Man City, whenever it happens, I guess the team in third position would also have to think, well, if that does happen to City, then we’ve got to be ready."
Shearer believes this presents a significant opportunity for Liverpool to join the title conversation if they secure a favorable result this weekend.
