Donald Trump Weighs In on Nicki Minaj as Potential White House Press Secretary
The president was asked whether the rapper could take on the role in his administration.
Donald Trump weighed in on the possibility of Nicki Minaj becoming the White House press secretary during an appearance on the political commentary podcast The Benny Show. When directly asked about Minaj's potential role, Trump responded, "That's a good idea. I think I'll have to think about that. I'm gonna think about that." He also suggested that host Benny Johnson might be "pretty good" for the position.
The conversation followed Minaj's involvement in Trump's political activities, including her appearance at a Michigan rally supporting Republican candidates. Minaj's presence at the event was highlighted by Trump, who called her "beautiful a--" and invited her to address the crowd. Speculation about Minaj taking the press secretary role intensified after Katie Zacharia, the previous press secretary, resigned just five days into her position.
White House communications director Steven Cheung fueled the speculation with a mock interview video of Minaj aboard Air Force One, captioned "#AirForceOneBARBIE." Minaj had previously served as a judge for the Trump administration's Million Dollar Pitch Competition.
